There are two things that I’ve needed to know ever since I realized I was here on this planet. What am I supposed to do now? Where is Freedom? This needing to know is a fellow traveler, presenting acutely or like soft humdrum.
The first question isn’t about a job or an activity (although those dragons surfaced), but rather the thread that runs beneath it all. The second question is related to the first. Sometimes as a small child in nature or in creativity, I felt that I understood-- in pure joy-- and I can still catch the feeling.
BKS Iyengar writes in his introduction to Light on Yoga: “To win a battle, a general surveys the terrain and the enemy and plans countermeasures. In a similar way, the Yogi plans the conquest of the Self”
We all work out these problems in any way that suits. Making natural vibrational perfumes has been about loosening a knot rather than forming a thing. It is a way to survey the terrain and plan the countermeasures, by understanding frequencies and then creating formulas as countermeasures.

In making the vibrational perfumes I interpreted the first part of chapter 42 of the Daodejing-The Dao creates the one, which creates the two, which creates the three, which creates the 10,000 things- as a series of three vibrational perfumes: Sovereign One, Harmonize Two, Myriad Three. You can also go backwards. Working with and wearing the perfumes, I wear the flowers and feel the frequencies and the knots begin to slip. I can’t say it will answer these questions for you, or that these are your questions, but I’m fully confident that the flowers meet us where we are.
I call them Vibrational Perfumes, because they are formulas that combine energetic flower essences with natural whole plant-based perfumes that complement the vibrational component. Whole plants are required for these perfumes, or they don’t work, so I don’t use synthetics or natural isolates. Here, flowers and botanicals lead the design of the perfumes. Occasionally the historical use of a plant cuts a groove of fact with the efficacy of an old prayer—and it’s hard to know if the flower or its long use makes for the alchemy.
Beyond the agency to ask: What am I to do? and Where lies Freedom?, followed by the impetus to unfasten, I can control formula ratios, but not much more beyond that. The next series of countermeasures is about the How.
